If the choice is Hublot vs Omega, you are looking at two Swiss brands that often cost about the same but are built in very different ways. Hublot makes bold watches that get noticed. Omega is known for precision and its sport and diving watches.
People compare these two for good reason. They land in the same price range, so buyers often weigh one against the other. The stronger choice depends on fit, comfort, durability, and whether the watch suits daily wear or occasional use.
This guide compares movements, water resistance, materials, case size, and dials. We also look at price and resale.
Hublot Overview
Hublot is the young brand in this comparison, and it made its name by breaking the rules of traditional watchmaking. The name is French for “porthole,” the round window on a ship. That is why the bezel is held down with visible screws. The brand’s whole idea is what it calls the “Art of Fusion,” or mixing materials that other watchmakers kept apart.
Carlo Crocco founded Hublot in 1980. His first watch paired a gold case with a rubber strap, which was a bold move back then, because luxury watches did not use rubber. For about 20 years, though, the brand stayed small.
That changed in 2005, when Jean-Claude Biver took over and launched the Big Bang. It sold well, LVMH bought Hublot in 2008, and in 2010 the brand added its first in-house movement, the Unico.
All this makes Hublot a good fit for buyers who want a modern, bold watch rather than a classic one with a long history. If you want to see how those collections line up, our full Hublot buying guide goes through the range model by model.

Omega Overview
Omega started in 1848 and built its name on precision. The name is the last letter of the Greek alphabet, a way of saying the company had perfected its craft.
Louis Brandt founded the company in Switzerland, building watches by hand from bought-in parts. Omega later became the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, a role it first held in 1932. In 1969, a Speedmaster went to the Moon with Apollo 11, and the model has been called the Moonwatch ever since.
In 1999, it launched the Co-Axial escapement. This design lowers friction inside the movement, so the watch runs longer between services. In 2015, it added Master Chronometer certification. Omega is owned by the Swatch Group.
All of this makes Omega a good fit for buyers who want a proven watch with a long history that still works for diving, travel, and daily wear. Our Omega buying guide covers the rest of the range, from dress pieces to dive watches.

Hublot vs Omega: Most Notable Differences

The Hublot and Omega are two brands that make very different engineering choices, and those choices affect how each watch performs and lasts.
1. Movement Certification
Hublot’s Big Bang Unico uses an in-house automatic flyback chronograph. Many other Big Bang models and most Classic Fusion pieces run on modified Sellita or ETA base movements. So the same collection can hold very different movements, and you have to check the exact model to know what you are getting.
Omega fits in-house Co-Axial movements across its flagship lines, and most current flagship pieces carry METAS Master Chronometer certification for accuracy and magnetic resistance. That gives one clear standard across the range, and it makes the movement easy to verify before you buy.
2. Water Resistance
Hublot’s Big Bang usually sits near 100 meters, while the dressier Classic Fusion sits around 50 meters. Those ratings handle daily wear, rain, and hand-washing without trouble. They are not built for serious diving, though.
Omega’s Seamaster Diver 300M is a true dive watch, rated to 300 meters, with a rotating dive bezel and a helium escape valve. The Speedmaster sits lower, near 50 meters, because it is a chronograph and not a diver. If real water use matters, the Seamaster is the better choice, and our Omega Seamaster buying guide walks through the Diver 300M and the rest of the line.
3. Case Materials
Hublot uses advanced materials such as ceramic, carbon, titanium, sapphire cases, and Magic Gold, a scratch-resistant gold and ceramic mix unique to the brand. These resist scratches well and give a high-tech feel. They can also be harder and costlier to refinish if damaged.
Omega uses more traditional materials, mainly steel, titanium, its own gold alloys, and ceramic bezels. Steel is easy to polish and repair over years of ownership. That makes long-term upkeep simpler and usually cheaper. If you are weighing the two, we cover how ceramic compares to titanium in a separate guide.
4. Case Dimensions
Hublot’s watches tend to run large and thick, often 44 millimeters and up. The Big Bang has a strong wrist presence and suits people who want to be noticed. The Classic Fusion is the slimmer option for a calmer fit. We go deeper on the two lines in our Big Bang vs Classic Fusion comparison.
Omega’s flagship models tend to sit near 42 millimeters with a slimmer profile. That size fits a wider range of wrists and slides under a shirt cuff more easily. For one-watch buyers, the smaller footprint is often the safer pick.
5. Dial Construction
Hublot often uses skeleton dials that show the movement underneath. The open dial looks technical and puts the moving parts on display. It can be harder to read quickly at a glance. If that open-worked look appeals to you, see our roundup of the best skeleton watches for men.
Omega usually uses closed, easy-to-read dials. The Moonwatch is even hand-wound rather than automatic. Clear dials like these are simple to read at a glance.
Price and Market Demand
Omega generally starts lower and covers a wider range. Hublot’s main models cost more. Here are the rough retail price bands for each brand:
| Omega | Hublot | |
| Entry point | Steel Speedmaster or Seamaster, about $6,000 to $8,000 | Titanium Classic Fusion, about $8,000 to $9,000 |
| Higher end | Gold and complication models cost more | Ceramic Big Bang Unico past $20,000; King Gold, carbon, and MP pieces cost far more |
On resale, Omega usually holds its value better. The Speedmaster Moonwatch and steel Seamaster models have steady demand on the used market. Hublot is weaker on most models, though ceramic Big Bang watches and limited editions hold up better than the rest.
For live pricing and resale trends, Chrono24 and WatchCharts track what these watches sell for on the used market.

Choose Hublot if:
- You want a large case with strong wrist presence.
- You specifically want an in-house flyback chronograph (Unico).
- You value advanced materials like ceramic, carbon, or Magic Gold.
- You like a skeleton dial that shows the movement.
Choose Omega if:
- You need real dive capability, from 300 up to 600 meters.
- You want in-house Co-Axial movements with METAS certification as standard.
- You prefer a slimmer, roughly 42mm case that fits more settings.
- You want clear dials and longer service intervals.
Where to Buy Authentic Hublot and Omega Watches
You can buy authentic Hublot and Omega watches from trusted dealers and from large marketplaces like Chrono24, eBay, and Grailzee. Both brands are copied often, though, so where you buy matters as much as which watch you pick. They hold their value best when they come with the original box, papers, and a clear history.
These marketplaces list many watches, but the seller behind each listing can vary. So you have to check the photos, papers, and return terms yourself before you commit, and it helps to know how buying on Chrono24 works before you place a bid.
At Majestix Collection, every watch is checked for authenticity and sold as a full set where possible. Each listing comes with real photos and a clear note on the watch’s condition, so you know what you are getting before you pay. If you have questions about a specific piece, you can always reach out and ask.

Final Thoughts on Hublot vs Omega
The choice in Hublot vs Omega really comes down to how you plan to live with the watch. Omega gives you in-house movements and strong water resistance in a size that fits most wrists. Hublot gives you a large, eye-catching design and special materials that stand out.
Try both on in person if you can, because Hublot tends to wear larger than its size on paper. Compare service costs, because Hublot’s special materials can cost more to repair later. If you want one watch for swimming, travel, and daily use, Omega makes that easy. If you want a watch that stands out, Hublot is the better pick.
