Few dial colors make a room look at your wrist before it looks at your face. Yellow is one of them. That is why the best yellow watch is worth getting right.

Yellow is having a moment, and most of that moment is happening at the bottom of the market. Fashion watches, MoonSwatches, and $400 microbrands flood every list out there. The collector-grade yellows are harder to find and rarely get covered well.

This guide covers the six yellow watches we would put our own money on, whether they hold value, when a yellow watch is the right buy, and where to find a clean one.

4 Types of Yellow Watches

Four watch dials showing signal yellow, sunburst yellow, sand faux-patina, and yellow gold finishes

“Yellow watch” means four different things, and they are not the same. Yellow dials are what most collectors want, and that is the focus of this guide.

Yellow cases or bezels (think MoonSwatch, Hublot, G-Shock) are bold, usually plastic or ceramic. Yellow straps are the cheapest option and take five minutes to swap. Yellow gold is a metal, and at a much higher price. If it turns out the warm metal is what you are really after, we have a separate roundup of the best yellow gold watches worth owning.

Half the watches sold as “yellow” are gold, champagne, or sand. Buyers come to us asking for a yellow dial and leave realizing they wanted something warmer and quieter.

So before you start looking, know which yellow you mean:

Yellow TypeWhat It Looks Like
Signal yellowBright, matte, high-visibility
Sunburst yellowShiny, sunray finish
Sand / faux-patinaMuted, vintage-leaning
Yellow goldWarm metal

6 Yellow Watches Worth Buying

These are the six yellow watches we would put our own money on. Each one is here because it looks good up close and feels good to wear.

1. Doxa Sub 300 Divingstar

Doxa Sub 300 Divingstar with yellow dial and beads-of-rice bracelet in an orange-lined box

The Doxa Sub 300 Divingstar arrived in 1967, built with input from Jacques Cousteau, and was designed for legibility underwater where reds and blues wash out. Orange was the original, but yellow follows the exact same logic.

The Divingstar is the most affordable serious yellow watch on this list. You get the cushion case and the beads-of-rice bracelet.

  • Reference: 821.10.361.31
  • Case: 42.5mm stainless steel
  • Water resistance: 300m
  • Movement: COSC-certified automatic (ETA 2824-2 base), 38-hour reserve
  • Price: Around $2,450

2. Christopher Ward Trident Lumière

Christopher Ward Trident with bright yellow dial and titanium bracelet in a black leather watch box

The Christopher Ward Trident Lumière was already a fan-voted dive watch favorite. The “submarine yellow” version gave it a bright, lume-heavy treatment with Globolight indexes (ceramic blocks packed with luminous material that glow longer than standard lume).

It is the yellow diver for the buyer who likes that few people on the street will notice it, but every collector who knows will. The catch is scarcity, so finding one now means the secondary market.

  • Reference: C60-41C3H31T0KY0-B0
  • Case: 41mm grade 2 titanium
  • Water resistance: 300m
  • Movement: COSC-certified Sellita SW300-1 automatic, 56-hour reserve
  • Price: Around $2,500 on the secondary market

3. Breitling Superocean 42 Yellow

Breitling Superocean 42 with yellow dial and black bezel on steel bracelet in a navy box

The Breitling Superocean 42 Yellow is inspired by the old Slow Motion divers, and we recommend it as a yellow watch you can wear anywhere. It works for the pool, a polo shirt, and the weekend.

The case sits well on most wrists, and the 22mm lugs make it easy to swap straps. Put on a rubber or a NATO and the same watch looks completely different for summer.

  • Reference: A17375211I1A1
  • Case: 42mm stainless steel
  • Water resistance: 300m
  • Movement: COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 17 automatic, 38-hour reserve
  • Price: Around $5,200

4. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 Yellow

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 with yellow dial and steel bracelet in a green Rolex box

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 Yellow launched in September 2020 as one of Rolex’s bright lacquer dials, and Rolex pulled the yellow from the catalog in 2022. That discontinuation is exactly why demand stays high.

Retail was around $6,150 at launch. The yellow climbed to roughly $22,000 at the 2022 peak, dropped since, and a clean example still sells well above its original retail price. If you want a yellow watch that also holds its value, this is the one collectors compete for. If you are weighing the rest of the line before committing, our Oyster Perpetual buying guide walks through the sizes and dials.

It is also one of the most debated colored dials on collector forums, with threads on Watchuseek and r/Watches still arguing over whether the premium is justified or going down.

  • Reference: 124300
  • Case: 41mm Oystersteel
  • Water resistance: 100m (safe for swimming, not diving)
  • Movement: Caliber 3230, 70-hour reserve, -2/+2 seconds per day
  • Price: Roughly $8,000 to $20,000 depending on condition

5. Hublot Big Bang Yellow

Hublot Big Bang in yellow ceramic with skeleton dial and yellow rubber strap in a black box

The Hublot Big Bang Yellow is the watch you buy when subtlety was never the plan. The case and strap match in the same bright yellow, and the look is impossible to miss.

Nobody wears this to a quiet dinner. It is a weekend-in-Miami watch, and it knows it. For the right buyer, that boldness is the whole appeal.

  • Reference: 441.CY.471Y.RX
  • Case: 42mm polished yellow ceramic
  • Water resistance: 100m
  • Movement: HUB1280 UNICO automatic chronograph, 72-hour reserve
  • Price: Around $28,300

6. F.P. Journe Centigraphe Yellow

F.P. Journe Centigraphe with yellow chronograph dial and black case on a tan suede cushion

The F.P. Journe Centigraphe Yellow is the most expensive watch here, and the most exclusive. F.P. Journe is one of the greatest living watchmakers, and the Centigraphe is his sport chronograph in bright yellow. The dark titanium case makes the yellow dial stand out against it.

The Centigraphe complication uses three sub-dials and is one of the rarest movements in production. This is a watch for serious collectors.

  • Reference: CTS2
  • Case: 44mm grade 5 titanium
  • Water resistance: 30m
  • Movement: In-house Caliber 1506 manual wind, 80-hour reserve
  • Price: Around $125,000 to $150,000 on the secondary market

Do Yellow Watches Hold Value?

Most yellow dials hold value worse than the same watch in black or blue, with two clear exceptions: discontinued hype dials and true limited editions.

Yellow is a small-demand color. Fewer buyers want it, so when you go to sell, your buyer pool is smaller and the offers come in lower. That is how it works with any bold dial color, and anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you something.

When a brand discontinues a yellow variant, the way Rolex did with the OP41, fewer are available and prices go up. The same thing happens with genuine limited editions. The same logic that decides which Rolex models hold value applies to a colored dial, only amplified.

Here is how our six picks perform on resale:

WatchApprox. PriceResale Behavior
Doxa Sub 300 Divingstar~$2,450Holds near issue; discontinued colors get chased
Christopher Ward Trident Lumière~$2,500Limited to 300 pieces; secondary market holds steady
Breitling SuperOcean 42~$5,200Softens pre-owned, like most steel Breitlings
Rolex OP 41 Yellow~$8,000–20,000Trades above retail; peaked near $22,000 in 2022
Hublot Big Bang Yellow~$28,300Depreciates unless the limited run stays tight
F.P. Journe Centigraphe~$125,000–150,000Appreciates; Journe demand outruns supply

Buy a Doxa or Breitling yellow because you want to wear it. Buy the Rolex or the Journe if you want the color and a watch that holds or gains value.

Condition matters more on a yellow dial than on a dark one. Bright lacquer shows dust, smudges, and aging more openly. On lacquered yellows like the Rolex OP, scratches and marks that would not show on a black dial are easy to see on yellow.

Always check a yellow dial under angled light before you buy, and lower your offer more for wear than you would on a standard dial. If you are unsure how dealers translate marks into a price, our breakdown of how watch condition is graded shows what each tier actually means.

When to Buy a Yellow Watch

Checklist graphic comparing when a yellow watch works versus when it doesn't

A yellow watch works when it is your second or third watch, worn for summer and weekends. It does not work as your only watch or for formal settings.

Yellow is hard to match. It is too noticeable for a suit, and it clashes with busy patterns. The buyers who love theirs wear it on purpose for specific occasions.

In our experience, almost nobody buys yellow first. It is the watch you add once the black diver and the steel sports watch are already in the box. That is also why it pairs best with simple summer outfits.

If you are not sure yellow is for you, test the idea cheaply before you commit. A sub-$500 Citizen Tsuyosa in yellow will tell you within a week whether you reach for the color or leave it in the drawer.

Where to Buy a Yellow Watch

The hard part about buying yellow is availability. The good ones are limited, seasonal, or discontinued. The Rolex yellow is no longer in the catalog. The Hublot was 250 pieces. The Journe is only available through the boutique. Finding one in good condition is harder than deciding you want one. The same channel questions that come up when buying any pre-owned luxury watch get harder when the dial is a discontinued color.

At Majestix Collection, every yellow piece we list is inspected in person, with honest condition notes, a full tour video, and clear information on where prices are right now.

If you already have a shortlist, send it over. If the exact reference is sold out everywhere, we can help you track one down. We will tell you which one is worth buying today and which to wait on, even when that means telling you to hold off.

Final Thoughts on the Best Yellow Watch

Five yellow-dial watches from Doxa, Rolex, Tudor, Omega, and Audemars Piguet arranged on stone blocks

The best yellow watch is not the brightest one on a list of twenty. It is the one that works best as a second or third watch. The Doxa, Christopher Ward, and Breitling cover the everyday end. The Rolex OP yellow also holds its value. The Hublot and Journe are for buyers who want to stand out the most.

Always view a yellow dial in daylight, because the color looks different under indoor light. Buy it on a bracelet if you can, because a steel bracelet makes the yellow less bright, so it works in more settings.

Bring us your shortlist when you are ready.
