The Jules Audemars “Gstaad Classic” Chronograph is a titanium automatic chronograph built as a limited edition of 250 pieces. It sits in the Jules Audemars line, the round, classically styled family that runs alongside the Royal Oak in the brand’s catalogue, and it carries a motoring theme drawn from the event it was made to mark.
Audemars Piguet launched it in 2011 as title sponsor of the Gstaad Classic Audemars Piguet, a historic classic-car rally run on closed mountain roads in Switzerland. The watch was released to accompany the 2011 running of that rally, and every example carries a “Gstaad Classic 2011” engraving on the caseback.
The design pulls its cues from vintage motoring: a 1920s-style dial layout, a hand-sewn leather strap stitched to echo car upholstery, and a titanium case, a material long used in the automobile industry for its strength-to-weight ratio.
Of the 250-piece run, 50 pieces were reserved for sale through the Audemars Piguet boutiques in Gstaad and Geneva. The reference also served as the basis for a unique 18K pink gold Gstaad Classic chronograph created for the Only Watch 2011 charity auction under a separate reference.

The dial base is a dark anthracite grey, which Audemars Piguet’s own launch text described as green; in practice it reads as a desaturated grey with a green cast that shifts with the light. Applied pink gold Arabic numerals in a vintage 1920s style run around the hour track.

A silver outer chapter ring carries a tachymeter scale graduated in black Arabic numerals to 240 on a base of 1000, with a finer minute and fifth-of-a-second track printed inside it. The hour and minute hands are rose gold spade-shaped hands, and the central chronograph seconds hand is red.
Two recessed silver subdials sit in a bicompax layout, each ringed in gold with a railway-style track. The running small seconds register is at 3 o’clock with a gold hand, and the 30-minute chronograph counter is at 9 o’clock with a red needle and a gold counterbalance.
The printed dial text reads “Audemars Piguet” below 12 o’clock, with “Automatic” above 6 o’clock and “Swiss Made” at the base of the dial.
The case is the round Jules Audemars three-body design in titanium, 41 mm in diameter, with downturned lugs and a mix of polished and brushed surfaces. A slim, stepped titanium bezel frames the dial and is fixed, serving no timing function.

A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment covers the dial. The caseback is a screw-down exhibition sapphire back secured by six screws and engraved with “Audemars Piguet,” “Limited Edition,” and the “Gstaad Classic 2011” legend, showing the movement through the back.
The winding crown is a pull-out, signed crown at 3 o’clock. The chronograph is worked by two pushers: a start and stop pusher at 2 o’clock made of 18K rose gold, set apart so it is easy to find by feel, and a reset pusher at 4 o’clock. Water resistance is rated at 20 meters.
The watch ships on a hand-sewn chestnut brown leather strap. The stitching is a raised lozenge or diamond pattern running down the center of the strap, a detail drawn from fine car upholstery.

The strap is fitted to a titanium folding deployant clasp with a concealed mechanism, signed by Audemars Piguet. The clasp material matches the titanium case rather than the rose gold used on the pusher and dial furniture.
The watch runs on the Audemars Piguet self-winding caliber 3124/3841, a cam-operated chronograph built on the brand’s automatic base caliber with an integrated chronograph module. It is an in-house movement, hand-assembled in Le Brassus.
The movement carries 59 jewels and beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), with a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. Winding is handled by a 22K gold monobloc oscillating weight running on ceramic ball bearings, visible through the display back.
Finishing includes rhodium plating, C├┤tes de Gen├иve ribbing, snailing, and bevelled bridges, with a straight-line lever escapement and a hacking seconds mechanism for precise time setting.
Functions are hours, minutes, running small seconds at 3 o’clock, and a chronograph reading elapsed seconds on the central red hand and elapsed minutes on the 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock. To operate it, press the pusher at 2 o’clock to start and stop the timing and the pusher at 4 o’clock to reset, then read average speed against the tachymeter scale on the dial.
The overall material character pairs a light, matte-capable titanium case and clasp with warm rose and yellow gold accents on the dial, pushers, and rotor.

The reference was a single 2011 release, so no factory box change occurred during its run. A modern-format box on an example indicates a service replacement rather than an alternate original presentation.
At the time of sale in 2011, the watch carried Audemars Piguet’s international guarantee for the period, documented on the brand’s guarantee certificate completed by the retailer at purchase. The standard coverage length for the era was two years.

Newer version
The original two-year guarantee on any example of this reference has expired given the 2011 sale window. The dated, retailer-completed guarantee certificate remains the primary authenticity document for a full set, and a blank or photocopied certificate is a concern for that purpose.
At 41 mm the case sits in the middle of the modern size range, and the titanium construction makes it wear lighter than its diameter suggests. The round three-body case with downturned lugs follows the wrist rather than sitting flat and wide across it.

The watch suits a medium to larger wrist and reads as a dress chronograph rather than a sports watch, helped by the leather strap and the classic Jules Audemars case rather than an integrated bracelet. The rose gold start and stop pusher at 2 o’clock is placed to be found without looking, a practical touch for timing on the move.
It fits a buyer who wants an Audemars Piguet outside the Royal Oak line, in a vintage-influenced, motoring-themed chronograph with a lightweight case for daily wear.
This reference exists in a single configuration: a 41 mm titanium case, a dark anthracite grey dial with applied pink gold Arabic numerals and a tachymeter scale, rose gold spade hands with a red central chronograph seconds hand, a brown leather strap on a titanium deployant clasp, and the caliber 3124/3841 automatic chronograph, produced as a numbered limited edition of 250 with a “Gstaad Classic 2011” caseback.
Related references often confused with this one: the unique 18K pink gold Jules Audemars Gstaad Classic chronograph made for Only Watch 2011 (reference 26563), a one-off in gold rather than titanium; and a later Jules Audemars Gstaad Classic edition on a rubber strap with a different dial treatment and a higher water resistance rating, which is a separate reference whose specifications do not carry across to this one.
