The PanoReserve is a manually wound dress watch from Glashütte Original’s Pano collection, the line built around the brand’s asymmetric dial layout in which the hour and minute display, small seconds, Panorama Date, and power reserve indicator are arranged off-centre according to the golden ratio. The reference 1-65-01-23-12-62 is the stainless steel version with a galvanized ruthenium grey dial on a grey Louisiana alligator leather strap.
This 40 mm generation of the PanoReserve, driven by the in-house Calibre 65-01, was presented at Baselworld 2012, when the model adopted the larger case and slimmer bezel that define the current design. It sits in the Pano collection as a time-and-date piece with a mechanical power reserve display, positioned below the brand’s calendar and complicated Pano models.
The watch is a regular production model rather than a limited edition. The German-language dial labels for the power reserve and date, GANGRESERVE and PANORAMADATUM, are a fixed feature of the line and identify it as a product of the Saxon manufactory in Glashütte.

The dial is galvanized ruthenium in a dark grey tone with a fine matte surface. The layout is asymmetric: an off-centre subsidiary dial for hours and minutes at the upper left, a small seconds register at the lower left, the fan-shaped power reserve display at the right, and the Panorama Date in a framed twin-window aperture below the centre. The two auxiliary dials for hour/minute and small second carry a fine vinyl-type decorative pattern that shifts between lighter and darker grey depending on the angle of the light.

Hour markers are applied silver-coloured indexes. The hour and minute hands are white gold with Super-LumiNova inlays. The power reserve is read on a curved scale marked AUF (wound) and AB (unwound), tracked by a small white gold pointer. The Panorama Date shows white numerals on a grey ground for high contrast, formed by two adjacent discs on a single plane so the two digits sit level with no dividing bar.
Printed dial text reads “Glashütte Original” below the top marker, “GLASHÜTTE i/SA” at the centre, and “PanoReserve” with “MADE IN GERMANY” at the base. The crown sits at the right of the case at the 3 o’clock position.
The case is stainless steel, 40 mm in diameter, with a combination of polished and satin-brushed surfaces and a slim polished bezel. Officially published case height is 11.70 mm. The profile is a round dress case with a thin fixed bezel that maximises the dial opening.

The front crystal is sapphire. The caseback is a sapphire crystal display back that exposes the movement. The crown is a non-screw-down type. Water resistance is rated at 5 bar, equivalent to 50 metres.
The bezel is smooth and fixed and carries no scale or timing function; it is a decorative element that frames the dial rather than a working complication.
This reference is fitted with a grey Louisiana alligator nubuck leather strap. The officially published end link (lug) width is 20 mm, and the strap is supplied in a 75 x 115 mm length pairing.

The strap can be supplied with either a folding clasp or a pin buckle, a fastening choice that the manufactory notes affects the price. The same reference exists with alternate attachments under separate suffix codes: a grey synthetic strap (1-65-01-23-12-66) and a stainless steel bracelet with a fine adjustment mechanism (1-65-01-23-12-71). Glashütte Original also offers additional straps and bracelets individually for the case.
The movement is the Glashütte Original manufactory Calibre 65-01, a manually wound mechanical movement. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), carries 48 jewels, and delivers a power reserve of 42 hours (±5%).
Functions are hour and minute, small second, Panorama Date, and mechanical power reserve display. The seconds display is hackable, with a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. The movement uses a screw balance with 18 weighted screws and a duplex swan-neck fine adjustment.
Winding and setting are performed through the non-screw crown: winding in the first position and time setting in the pulled position. The Panorama Date advances through the movement and is corrected via the crown. The power reserve indicator moves toward AUF as the mainspring is wound and toward AB as it runs down.
Finishing visible through the display back includes the Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finish, a hand-engraved balance bridge and second cock, bevelled edges, polished steel parts, screw-mounted gold chatons, and blued screws.
The material character is a stainless steel dress watch with dual sapphire crystals, a galvanized ruthenium dial, applied silver indexes, and white gold hands, presented on an alligator leather strap.

The two-part inner and outer presentation box has been consistent across this reference’s current production run. An example returned in a generic or service box, rather than the standard presentation packaging, is relevant to whether a listing is judged a complete set.
Glashütte Original issues an international manufacturer’s guarantee valid only when the warranty certificate is fully completed, dated, and stamped by an official Glashütte Original dealer at the point of sale. For most of this reference’s run the guarantee was 24 months (2 years) from the date of purchase. The coverage applies to material and manufacturing defects present at delivery and requires presentation of the valid, stamped certificate for any claim.

On an example sold under the earlier terms, the original 2-year coverage has now lapsed. The stamped and dated warranty certificate remains the primary purchase-authentication document regardless of remaining coverage; a blank, undated, or photocopied certificate is a red flag for a full-set listing.
At 40 mm in diameter with a published height of 11.70 mm, the watch wears close to its stated size. The round case and slim bezel keep the footprint contained, while the 11.70 mm height gives it a moderate stance rather than an ultra-thin dress profile, in part because the movement carries the date and power reserve mechanisms.

The 20 mm lug width and alligator strap suit a range of wrist sizes in the approximate 6.5 to 8 inch band. The polished bezel and dressy dial make it a formal-leaning watch that slips under a shirt cuff without difficulty.
As a manually wound movement with a 42-hour reserve, it requires regular winding and will stop after roughly two days off the wrist, which is where the power reserve indicator is functionally useful. It suits a wearer who wants a mechanical dress watch with an unconventional dial layout and an exposed manufactory movement.
Every example of this reference is built on the same 40 mm polished and satin-brushed stainless steel case, the galvanized ruthenium grey dial with applied silver indexes and white gold Super-LumiNova hands, and the manually wound Calibre 65-01. The one within-reference option is the strap fastening, offered as either a folding clasp or a pin buckle.
