Three Bvlgari watches on wood desk: Octo Finissimo titanium foreground, Aluminium and Bvlgari Bvlgari in background with loupe and handwritten letter

Bvlgari makes five distinct watch collections, and most buyers arrive with one question: Octo or something else? This Bvlgari watch buying guide cuts through that confusion.

It covers each collection, from pre-owned cost to where it fits in a serious collection. If you already know you want one, this is what helps you pick.

Bvlgari’s pre-owned market is bigger than most buyers expect, with prices that swing from a few thousand to nearly six figures. That spread tells you most of what you need: not all Bvlgari watches are the same buy.

5 Best Bvlgari Watches to Buy in 2026

Your pick depends on what you need from it. For most serious buyers, that’s the Octo. Everything else is worth it, but only for specific buyers.

1. Octo Finissimo — Best for Serious Collectors

Bvlgari Octo Finissimo with blue sunburst dial, small seconds, and integrated steel bracelet on dark grey background

Bvlgari’s Octo Finissimo is what turned the company from a jewelry brand with a watch division into something hardcore collectors take seriously. It has set eight world records in ultra-thin watchmaking, and the 2025 version won the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

It wears dramatically smaller than its diameter suggests, the payoff for a case this thin. Buyers with sub-18cm wrists often find it sits more comfortably than watches three millimeters narrower. At Watches & Wonders 2026, Bvlgari introduced a 37mm version for buyers who found 40mm too large, which opens the collection to a lot of people who previously passed. On a smaller wrist, it ranks among the best luxury watches for a small wrist we’d point buyers toward.

For the secondary market, standard automatics in titanium (reference 102713) sit around $8,500 pre-owned against a retail of roughly $16,100, a depreciation of 35 to 47 percent depending on condition. Skeleton and Chronograph GMT editions hold better.

In titanium, the Chronograph GMT (reference 103068) trades at a narrower discount to retail because fewer exist and the complication justifies collector interest. At the top end, the Ultra Tourbillon Platinum, limited to 10 pieces and 1.85mm thick, is a different market entirely.

For most people, the standard Finissimo in titanium is the most practical pre-owned entry point. Buyers who want the collector appeal without chasing limited editions should start there. In titanium, it also holds its own against the best titanium watches for men in this price range.

  • Case: 40mm (new 37mm option from 2026), 5.15mm thick
  • Material: titanium, steel, rose gold, platinum
  • Movement: in-house automatic, manufactured by Bvlgari
  • Water resistance: 30m (splash-proof, not for swimming)
  • Pre-owned range: around $8,500 to $17,000+ depending on reference and configuration

2. Octo Roma — Best for Daily Wear

Where the Finissimo is an engineering statement, the Roma is a watch you wear without thinking about it. In proportions, it’s closer to a conventional sport watch, thicker and more substantial than the Finissimo. Its octagonal case and integrated bracelet give it the Octo DNA, but the extra heft means it can take more abuse without the anxiety of handling a 5mm case.

Most buyers who come to us unsure between the Finissimo and the Roma end up with the Roma once they consider wear habits. If the plan is daily use that’ll take the odd knock, the Roma makes more sense. Steel is the version most pre-owned buyers are after, so it prices accordingly.

  • Case: 41mm, around 10mm thick
  • Material: stainless steel (also rose gold and two-tone)
  • Movement: in-house automatic, caliber BVL 191
  • Water resistance: 100m (safe for swimming)
  • Pre-owned range: around $3,200 to $5,500 depending on reference

3. Serpenti — Best as a Jewelry-Watch Statement

Bvlgari Serpenti Tubogas two-tone rose gold and steel coiled bracelet watch with diamond bezel and silver dial on cream background

In the conventional sense, the Serpenti is not a collector’s watch. Most configurations run quartz movements (reliable, battery-operated), and the secondary market reflects that. Buyers come to it for the design: the coiled Tubogas bracelet, the snakehead crown, and the Roman mythology Bvlgari has built around the line since the 1940s.

If the movement matters, the Serpenti Seduttori is the version to look at. It’s the one configuration that uses an automatic caliber, with a flexible hexagonal bracelet that wraps the wrist more traditionally. Everything else in the Serpenti line depreciates meaningfully from retail and should be bought as a design purchase.

  • Case: 35mm (Tubogas); teardrop case on the Seduttori
  • Material: stainless steel, rose gold, two-tone, often diamond-set
  • Movement: quartz (automatic on the Serpenti Seduttori)
  • Water resistance: 30m
  • Pre-owned range: around $4,000 to $18,000 depending on metal and diamonds

4. BVLGARI BVLGARI — Best for the Understated Collector

Bvlgari Bvlgari steel watch with engraved logo bezel and black sunburst dial on cream background

This is the most overlooked collection in the lineup, and it probably shouldn’t be. Its double-engraved bezel, drawn directly from Roman coin typography, is one of the more distinctive design choices in Swiss watchmaking. Bvlgari launched it in 1977.

At around $5,200 retail, it’s a reasonable entry for a collector who wants the brand without the Octo premium.

Buyers who choose the BVLGARI BVLGARI over the Octo usually know exactly why. Its design is quieter, and it reads differently in a room. Vintage references from the 1980s and 1990s are a growing area of collector interest, and that market hasn’t fully repriced yet.

  • Case: 41mm
  • Material: stainless steel (also two-tone with rose gold)
  • Movement: in-house automatic, caliber BVL 191 (Solotempo)
  • Water resistance: 50m
  • Pre-owned range: around $3,200 to $4,000

5. Aluminium — Best Entry Point Into the Brand

Bvlgari Aluminium watch with black dial and rubber strap on concrete surface

Bvlgari’s Aluminium is the easiest way into the brand. At $3,100 retail, it’s the most affordable automatic Bvlgari you can buy new. Its movement runs on a proven ETA base rather than an in-house caliber, which is part of how Bvlgari keeps the price down. For buyers comparing it against similarly priced automatics from other brands, that trade-off is a fair one.

Pre-owned, it holds value better than most Bvlgari collections. WatchCharts puts depreciation from retail at roughly 13 to 29 percent, which is gentle. Ducati collaboration editions and special colorways carry a little extra secondary-market interest above standard references.

It wears light. That’s not a small thing for a daily watch, and it’s something buyers notice immediately.

  • Case: 40mm (chronograph now 41mm)
  • Material: aluminium with titanium caseback and crown, rubber bezel and strap
  • Movement: automatic, caliber B77 (ETA 2892 base)
  • Water resistance: 100m (safe for swimming)
  • Pre-owned range: around $2,200 to $2,700

Bvlgari Pre-Owned Prices by Reference

Pre-owned is where most serious buyers enter this brand. Savings on Octo Finissimo references alone are worth the hunt. But prices swing a lot from one reference to the next, so know which one you want before you shop.

ReferenceCollectionRetail MSRPPre-Owned Range (2026)Est. Depreciation
102713Octo Finissimo Auto Titanium~$16,100~$8,500–$10,50035–47%
103738Octo Roma 41mm Steel~$8,500~$3,200–$5,50035–62%
102237Serpenti Tubogas (steel/rose gold, diamonds)~$15,600~$9,000–$12,00025–42%
103720BVLGARI BVLGARI 41mm Steel~$5,200~$3,200–$4,00023–38%
103445Aluminium Automatic~$3,100~$2,200–$2,70013–29%

Within the Octo Finissimo, the Chronograph GMT and Skeleton sit well above the standard automatic shown here, both at retail and on the secondary market, where they also hold value better.

Box and papers matter most on the Finissimo. On reference 102713, full documentation can add $1,500 to $2,500 to the asking price, and it sells faster too.

On the Aluminium, there’s almost no meaningful premium for complete paperwork. Buyers treat it as a wearable first, so condition matters more than documentation.

For the Skeleton and Chrono GMT references, always request provenance. Buyers who come to us for those two references are almost always asking about service history and case condition.

Is a Pre-Owned Bvlgari Worth Buying?

Infographic comparing ultra-thin watch prices: pre-owned Bvlgari Octo Finissimo at $12,000 versus Piaget Altiplano and Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin at $20,000-$40,000

For the Octo Finissimo in titanium, buying pre-owned is the smarter entry for most collectors. As covered above, standard automatics trade well below retail, and the watches are essentially identical to new.

Bvlgari does not hold value like Rolex or Patek Philippe. That is not the reason to buy one. What you get instead is ultra-thin watchmaking the Swiss names charge two to three times as much for.

A Piaget Altiplano or Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin with a similar ultra-thin movement will run $20,000 to $40,000. A pre-owned Octo Finissimo in steel at $12,000 holds its own against them for less than half the price.

4 Checks Before Buying a Pre-Owned Bvlgari

Infographic with sketch illustration showing four pre-owned Bvlgari inspection points: serial and papers match, bracelet pin wear, case condition, and service history

Once you’ve settled on a reference, these four checks separate a fair deal from a costly one. Run through them in order of importance before you commit. These are Bvlgari-specific; for the fundamentals that apply to any purchase, our general checklist for buying a pre-owned watch covers the rest.

  1. Serial number and documentation match. Mismatched papers are common on resold watches and lower value significantly.
  2. Bracelet pin condition. Bvlgari integrated bracelets show wear at the link pins before the case shows damage. Replacement parts are expensive, and a full bracelet service can run several hundred dollars.
  3. Case condition. Ultra-thin cases dent and scratch more easily than thicker ones. Inspect under magnification before buying.
  4. Movement service history. A watch with no service history and unknown age is a pricing negotiation.

Where to Buy a Pre-Owned Bvlgari Watch

Sourcing a pre-owned Bvlgari well comes down to who has physically handled the watch. You can’t verify a serial or confirm a movement from a photo. A listing with clear shots of the dial, caseback, serial engravings, and clasp is the baseline. Missing those photos is a hard stop. If you’re weighing where to look in the first place, our guide on where to buy pre-owned watches walks through the channels.

At Majestix Collection, every Bvlgari we source goes through a physical condition inspection before it’s listed. We document bracelet wear, check case finishing, and confirm movement spec against the reference. Our condition notes reflect what we see. If there’s anything we’d want to know as a buyer, it’s in the listing.

Bring your shortlist. We’re happy to talk through which references make sense for what you’re trying to put together. And if it’s a hard-to-find piece, we can help you source it.

Frequently Asked Questions

A few questions come up again and again from buyers weighing their first Bvlgari. Here are the ones worth answering before you commit.

Is Bvlgari considered a prestigious watch brand among collectors?

Bvlgari earns real collector respect, but mostly for the Octo Finissimo. Among collectors who track ultra-thin watchmaking, Bvlgari has genuine credibility, with multiple world records and major watchmaking awards behind the line. In broader collector culture it sits in a respected tier below Patek and AP but above most fashion-adjacent competitors. We put that standing in context in our ranking of luxury watch brands.

How often does a Bvlgari watch need servicing?

Bvlgari recommends a movement service every three to five years for mechanical calibers. For quartz Serpenti models, plan on a battery replacement every two to three years with periodic seal checks. Service costs vary by model; expect $400 to $800 for a standard Octo Finissimo service at an authorized center, and more for complicated references. For how service intervals and costs work across mechanical watches generally, our guide to watch servicing breaks it down.

Is the Octo Finissimo fragile as a daily watch?

More fragile than a sport watch, yes, but not as delicate as its thinness suggests. Titanium versions resist impact better than steel. Its 30m water resistance (splash-proof, not suitable for swimming) is the real day-to-day limit. Worn to the office and removed for outdoor activity, the Finissimo holds up fine for years.

Final Thoughts on the Bvlgari Buying Guide

For most buyers, the Octo Finissimo is the right starting point, and the pre-owned market makes that an easier decision than retail suggests. Roma earns the nod when daily wearability beats engineering credentials.

BVLGARI BVLGARI is underpriced for its design quality, worth a look if you want something quieter. Serpenti is a design purchase, and the Aluminium is the most sensible first Bvlgari.

On the Octo, favor examples that haven’t been over-polished, since the sharp brushed-and-polished facets lose their crispness once a case has been refinished. And cross-reference any asking price against WatchCharts, because on Finissimo references, seller expectations and market reality can sit $2,000 apart.

Do the reference research first, then the condition checks. If you want a second opinion on a specific listing before you commit, send it over and we’ll give you an honest read on the price and condition.
