The Black Bay Pro is Tudor’s fixed-bezel GMT tool watch, built around a 39mm steel case and an in-house movement with a true independent local-hour function. It reads a second time zone from a 24-hour scale engraved into a fixed steel bezel, tracked by a yellow “Snowflake” hand. The design brief is an all-round adventure and travel watch rather than a dive watch, closer in concept to a fixed-bezel explorer-style GMT than to the rotating-bezel Black Bay GMT.
Tudor unveiled the Black Bay Pro at Watches and Wonders Geneva in 2022, with retail availability from late April that year. It launched under the Black Bay line as a regular-production model, not a limited edition.
At launch it was the smallest-cased Tudor to carry a GMT complication, sitting alongside the larger 41mm Black Bay GMT in the range. In 2023 Tudor added an opaline (silver-white) dial option to the same 79470 reference. The black dial on the riveted steel bracelet, reference M79470-0001, is the original configuration and has remained in the catalogue since introduction.

The dial is domed with a grained matte black surface. Printed dial text reads TUDOR and GENEVE below the twelve marker, with “200m·660ft”, “CHRONOMETER” and “OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED” above six o’clock, and “SWISS MADE” at the base of the dial. A date aperture sits at three o’clock with a white date disc and black numerals.
Hour markers are applied and made of monobloc luminous ceramic, with a triangle at twelve, batons at six and nine, and round plots at the other hours. The hour and minute hands are Tudor’s angular “Snowflake” style, filled with Super-LumiNova. The 24-hour hand is a yellow “Snowflake”-tipped hand that completes one rotation of the dial per day and points to the fixed bezel scale. A slim central seconds hand completes the layout, and the movement hacks for precise setting.
The case is round, 39mm in diameter and approximately 14.6mm thick, in stainless steel with a satin-brushed finish and polished accents. The lug-to-lug span is approximately 47.2mm. A screw-down winding crown in steel carries the Tudor rose in relief.
The crystal is domed sapphire with anti-reflective treatment. The caseback is a solid screw-down steel back. Water resistance is 200m. The bezel is fixed and non-rotating, in satin-brushed steel, with a 24-hour scale engraved and black-filled into the metal. The 24-hour hand read against this fixed scale gives a second time zone once the hand is set to a reference zone, with the local hour set independently by the crown.
Reference M79470-0001 ships on a steel bracelet with faux-riveted outer links, a design cue drawn from Tudor’s vintage bracelets, finished with polished and satin surfaces. The bracelet tapers toward a folding clasp.
The clasp is a steel folding clasp fitted with Tudor’s “T-fit” rapid adjustment system, which allows a tool-free micro-adjustment of up to 8mm across several positions. The same 79470 reference was also offered on a black fabric strap (M79470-0002) and on a hybrid rubber and leather strap with a steel folding clasp (M79470-0003); this example is the steel bracelet version.
The watch runs the Tudor Manufacture Calibre MT5652, an automatic movement produced by Kenissi and certified as a chronometer by the COSC. It measures 31.8mm by 7.52mm and carries 28 jewels.
It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and holds a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. The movement uses a bidirectional rotor, a variable inertia balance with a transversal balance bridge, and a non-magnetic silicon balance spring.
Functions are hours, minutes, hacking seconds, an independently adjustable 24-hour GMT hand, and an instantaneous date. The local hour is set forward or backward in one-hour jumps from a middle crown position without stopping the seconds, while the 24-hour hand and minutes track home time. The date changes with the local hour. The crown screws down against the case to maintain water resistance.
The construction is all-steel with a ceramic-and-luminescent marker set, a sapphire crystal, and a silicon hairspring in the movement. The material character is a hard-wearing, corrosion-resistant tool-watch build.

The Black Bay Pro has used one presentation box generation since its 2022 introduction. A generic or service box on an example sold as a full set indicates the original retail packaging was replaced rather than a factory box change.
At sale, this reference carried Tudor’s five-year transferable international guarantee, with no registration and no scheduled maintenance checks required to keep it valid. Coverage is documented by the current-generation black Tudor international guarantee card with red shield branding and NFC capability, stamped and dated by the authorised retailer at the point of sale. Scanning the card gives access to the Tudor Watch ID and the watch’s guarantee details. Tudor states this card-based Watch ID system has been available since 2020. The five-year term runs from the retail sale date recorded on the card.

The five-year guarantee is transferable, so remaining coverage moves with the watch to a subsequent owner. A card stamped and dated by the selling retailer is the primary sale-date and authenticity document for a full-set example; a blank or unstamped card does not establish the warranty start date.
At 39mm across with an approximately 47.2mm lug-to-lug, the Black Bay Pro sits compactly on the wrist and suits a broad range of wrist sizes, including smaller wrists that find the 41mm Black Bay GMT too long. The short lug span keeps the case footprint contained.
The point most owners note is height: at roughly 14.6mm the case is tall for its diameter, so the watch has clear presence and reads as a substantial tool watch rather than a slim everyday piece. The T-fit clasp allows on-the-fly fine adjustment of the bracelet, which helps dial in the fit as the wrist changes through the day. It is suited to travel and general daily wear where a second time zone and a durable steel build are useful.
