The Datejust 36 reference 126234 is the date-displaying three-hand watch at the centre of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual line. This configuration pairs an Oystersteel case with an 18 ct white gold fluted bezel, a combination Rolex designates White Rolesor, and carries the slate “Wimbledon” dial on an Oyster bracelet.
The reference belongs to the redesigned Datejust 36 generation introduced at Baselworld 2018. That update brought the new-generation calibre 3235 to the 36 mm Datejust and replaced the previous reference 116234, which ran the calibre 3135.
Across its production the 126234 has been offered with a wide range of dials and in two bracelet styles. The slate dial seen here takes the “Wimbledon” nickname from its green Roman numerals, a reference to Rolex’s association with the Wimbledon Championships. It is regular catalogue production, not a limited edition, and sits in the middle of the Datejust range between the full-Oystersteel versions and the two-tone and solid-gold models.

The dial is slate grey with a sunray finish that shifts between light and dark grey as the angle changes. The hour markers are green Roman numerals, the feature that gives this dial its “Wimbledon” name.
The hour and minute hands are 18 ct white gold, filled with Rolex’s Chromalight luminescent material, which emits a blue glow in low light. A central seconds hand runs the full width of the dial. The date sits at 3 o’clock in a framed aperture and is magnified by the Cyclops lens on the crystal above it.
The rehaut is engraved with repeating ROLEX text and a coronet at 6 o’clock. Printed dial text reads ROLEX, OYSTER PERPETUAL and DATEJUST in the upper half, with SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED in the lower half and SWISS MADE at the base.
The case is the round Oyster design, 36 mm in diameter, built around a monobloc middle case in Oystersteel with polished and brushed surfaces. The lugs are polished. Water resistance is 100 metres.
The bezel is 18 ct white gold, fluted, fixed, and decorative rather than functional. The crystal is scratch-resistant sapphire with a Cyclops lens over the date and anti-reflective treatment beneath the lens.
The winding crown is screw-down, using the Twinlock double waterproofness system, and sits at 3 o’clock. The caseback is solid and screw-down.
This reference carries the Oyster bracelet in Oystersteel, built from three-piece solid links with flat outer surfaces. The bracelet attaches to the case at the lugs and tapers toward the clasp.
The clasp is a folding Oysterclasp fitted with the Easylink comfort extension, which lets the wearer lengthen the bracelet by approximately 5 mm without tools.
The 126234 was sold with a choice of two bracelets under the same reference number: the three-piece Oyster shown here, or the five-piece Jubilee. Both are in Oystersteel with the Oysterclasp and Easylink system.
The watch runs the calibre 3235, an automatic movement developed and manufactured in-house by Rolex. It has 31 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and holds an approximate 70-hour power reserve.
Winding is bidirectional through a Perpetual rotor. The movement uses the Chronergy escapement in nickel-phosphorus, a paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, and high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers. Rolex documents 14 patents associated with the calibre.
The movement is certified as a Superlative Chronometer: COSC-certified before casing, then tested again by Rolex after casing to a precision of -2/+2 seconds per day. Functions are centre hours, minutes and seconds, plus an instantaneous date at 3 o’clock with rapid setting. The crown unscrews and pulls out to set the date and time, with a stop-seconds function for precise setting.
The case, bracelet and clasp are Oystersteel, a corrosion-resistant steel from the 904L family used across the Oyster Perpetual collection. The bezel is 18 ct white gold. The crystal is synthetic sapphire.
The dial hands are 18 ct white gold with Chromalight fill. The hour markers are green Roman numerals. The date magnifier is the sapphire Cyclops lens.
The material character is a mostly steel watch with a white gold bezel: the gold reads as a bright, reflective ring against the brushed and polished steel, while the steel construction keeps the watch hard-wearing for daily use.

Overlap between old and new card holders can occur during rollout, so a holder of either style is consistent with a genuine recent set. The dated, retailer-stamped guarantee card remains the primary authenticity document for a full set. At 36 mm the Datejust wears true to its stated size, a mid-size case that suits a broad range of wrists and reads as unisex. The slim Oyster case profile lets it sit flat and slide under a shirt cuff.
The Oyster bracelet with the Easylink extension allows fine adjustment for comfort through the day, and the 100 metre water resistance covers everyday exposure. It suits wrists in roughly the 6 to 7.5 inch range and works as a dress-leaning watch that is still built for daily wear.
