The Cosmograph Daytona 126518LN is the 18 ct yellow gold version of Rolex’s chronograph, built for timing and reading average speed over a measured distance through its tachymetric bezel scale. It belongs to the generation introduced at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023, which replaced the previous 116518LN and brought a redesigned case, a reworked movement, and a ceramic bezel to the gold Oysterflex line.
This reference pairs a golden (champagne) dial with three black contrasting counters, a configuration often referred to in the trade by the Paul Newman styling cue of light dial with dark subdials. The watch sits in the regular production Daytona range rather than as a limited edition, positioned as a flagship chronograph within the brand’s catalogue.
The 2023 generation introduced the caliber 4131 movement and a black Cerachrom monobloc bezel in place of the earlier metal tachymeter bezel. On the Oysterflex models the gold Daytona also gained a redesigned case with revised lug and flank proportions.

The dial base is golden with a sunray finish, carrying three recessed black chronograph counters: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a small running seconds at 9 o’clock, and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. The dark counters against the light base produce the high-contrast reverse-panda layout.

Hour markers and hands are 18 ct gold applied furniture, filled with Chromalight luminescent material that displays blue in low light. The central chronograph seconds hand sweeps the outer track, while the hour and minute hands are the baton style used across the collection. The word DAYTONA is printed in red along a curve above the 6 o’clock counter.
Printed dial text reads ROLEX beneath the coronet at 12 o’clock, followed by OYSTER PERPETUAL, SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER, OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED, and COSMOGRAPH. SWISS MADE is printed at the base of the dial, divided by the coronet at 6 o’clock. The rehaut is engraved with ROLEX repetitions and a serial number.
The case is 18 ct yellow gold in the round Oyster form, 40 mm in diameter and 11.90 mm thick, with a mix of polished and brushed surfaces and crown guards flanking the winding crown. The middle case is machined from a solid block of gold.

The crystal is sapphire with no date magnifier. The screw-down Triplock winding crown sits between two screw-down chronograph pushers, and the caseback is solid, screw-down gold with no display window on this reference. Water resistance is 100 metres.
The bezel is a fixed black monobloc Cerachrom insert in ceramic, carrying a moulded tachymetric scale graduated to 400 units per hour. The recessed graduations, numerals, and inscriptions are coated with a thin layer of precious metal applied by PVD. The tachymeter is read by timing an event over a fixed distance to derive average speed; the bezel does not rotate.
This reference is fitted with the Oysterflex strap, Rolex’s engineered elastomer strap rather than a bracelet. It is built around a flexible metal blade in each strap section, overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer, and is fitted with a longitudinal cushion system on the inner face to stabilise the strap on the wrist.

The strap closes with an 18 ct yellow gold Oysterlock folding safety clasp, which guards against accidental opening. The clasp carries the Rolex Glidelock extension system, allowing the effective length to be adjusted in increments of roughly 2.5 mm across six notches, for an extension range of approximately 15 mm without tools. The gold Daytona 126518LN is also offered on a solid gold Oyster bracelet under a separate reference, so the Oysterflex is specific to this configuration.
The movement is the Rolex caliber 4131, a self-winding mechanical chronograph introduced with the 2023 Daytona generation as an evolution of the caliber 4130. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), carries 47 jewels, and provides a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
The chronograph is operated by a column wheel with a vertical clutch, which gives clean starting of the central seconds hand and allows the chronograph to run continuously without wear. The escapement is the Rolex Chronergy design in nickel-phosphorus, paired with a blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers.
Functions are hours, minutes, and small running seconds, plus the chronograph with 30-minute and 12-hour totalisers. The chronograph is started and stopped with the pusher at 2 o’clock and reset with the pusher at 4 o’clock. The movement is a Superlative Chronometer, certified by COSC and then tested again by Rolex after casing to a rate of -2/+2 seconds per day.
The case, crown, pushers, bezel surround, and clasp are 18 ct yellow gold. The bezel insert is Cerachrom ceramic, a hard, corrosion-resistant, and fade-resistant material, with its tachymeter scale coated in precious metal.
The crystal is sapphire. The dial furniture, the applied markers and hands, is 18 ct gold with Chromalight luminescent filling. The strap is high-performance black elastomer over a metal blade core, and the clasp is 18 ct yellow gold.
The overall material set combines solid gold construction with a ceramic bezel and an elastomer strap, giving a precious-metal watch built for daily wear rather than a gold bracelet dress configuration.

The 126518LN has used a single presentation box generation since its 2023 introduction. A generic or wrong-model box on a full-set example affects how complete the set is judged to be, since the box, document wallet, and booklet are expected to match the reference and era.
A 126518LN purchased in 2024 shipped with the Rolex five-year international guarantee, which applies from the date of purchase registered on the card. The guarantee is supplied as a glossy green 2020-generation plastic International Guarantee card. The front carries the Rolex crown and the green and gold pattern, and the reverse holds the model, serial number, and electronically entered sale date. The card is completed and registered by the Official Rolex Retailer at point of sale and supports the five-year international guarantee.

A watch sold new in 2024 carries the Gen 1 glossy card and remains within its original five-year guarantee as of 2026. A retailer-registered, dated card is the primary document used to confirm point and date of sale, and a blank, unregistered, or missing card is a gap in a full-set listing.
The reference is part of the current Cosmograph Daytona catalogue and has not been discontinued.
The case measures 40 mm across with a thickness of 11.90 mm, dimensions shared across the current Daytona generation, so it wears as a mid-size chronograph that sits close to the wrist. The 20 mm lug width and the curved case flanks keep the footprint contained for a gold watch.

The Oysterflex strap is lighter on the wrist than the solid gold Oyster bracelet and is designed to flex and return to shape, which suits a wider range of wrist sizes and warmer conditions. The Glidelock adjustment in the clasp allows fine length changes without tools.
This configuration suits a wearer who wants a solid gold chronograph with a sport strap rather than a full gold bracelet, for daily wear as well as dress use. The golden dial with black counters gives a high-contrast, legible layout.
The 126518LN is the yellow gold, black Cerachrom bezel, Oysterflex configuration of the current Daytona, and across examples the constants are the 18 ct yellow gold 40 mm case, the black ceramic tachymeter bezel, the caliber 4131 movement, and the Oysterflex strap. The variation within this reference line is the dial.
