The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M “PyeongChang 2018” Limited Edition, reference 522.32.44.21.03.001, is a 43.5mm steel diver built to commemorate the XXIII Olympic Winter Games held in PyeongChang, South Korea, from February 9 to 25, 2018. Omega has served as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games on numerous occasions since 1932, and the brand uses major Games as the launch occasion for commemorative limited editions.
The reference was first shown publicly in February 2017, exactly one year out from the opening ceremony, alongside a companion Aqua Terra “PyeongChang 2018” edition. Both watches were limited to 2,018 pieces each, the production number tied directly to the year of the Games.
The colorway is taken from the South Korean flag: deep blue dial and bezel, with red rubber accents on the first 15 minutes of the diving scale and on the strap. It sits in Omega’s Specialities / Olympic Games line at the time of release, built on the third-generation Planet Ocean 600M platform that Omega had introduced the year before. Original retail at launch was approximately USD 6,950.

Dial and Face Design
The dial is high-gloss blue zirconium oxide ceramic, marked with a small “[ZrO2]” engraving below the central pinion to identify the material. Hour indexes are applied, polished, and rhodium-plated, with luminous fill that emits a blue glow. The 6, 9, and 12 positions use applied Arabic numerals in the same finish.
The minute and seconds track is printed onto the dial. The hands are polished and faceted with luminous fill: the hour and seconds hands emit a blue glow, while the minute hand emits a green glow to remain readable against the bezel under low light. The “Seamaster” wordmark on the dial is printed in red, picking up the red accent color used on the strap and bezel.
The date is displayed in a window at 3 o’clock with a date wheel matched to the dial. The crown sits at 3 o’clock and is screw-in. A manually operated helium escape valve is positioned at 10 o’clock, a standard feature on the Planet Ocean 600M.
The unidirectional rotating bezel is polished blue ceramic for minutes 15 through 60, with red rubber inset for the first 15 minutes of the diving scale. The minute markings and numerals on the bezel are executed in Omega’s Liquidmetal alloy, which bonds metallic detailing directly into the ceramic surface. A luminous dot at the 12 position emits green for orientation in the dark.

Movement & Functionality
The watch is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900, an in-house automatic movement introduced in 2015 as the successor to the Calibre 8500.
Specifications:
- Self-winding, bidirectional automatic
- 39 jewels
- 25,200 vph (3.5 Hz)
- 60 hour power reserve from twin barrels mounted in series
- Free-sprung balance with silicon balance spring
- Co-Axial escapement
- METAS Master Chronometer certified, COSC chronometer certified at the movement level
- Resistant to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss
Functions are hours, minutes, central seconds, and date. The Calibre 8900 also includes a quick-set independent hour hand, allowing the wearer to advance or retract the hour hand in one-hour increments without stopping the seconds. This makes time-zone changes simple: pull the crown to its first position, turn to advance the hour hand, push back in. The minute and seconds remain synchronized.
The date is also adjusted from the first crown position. The unidirectional bezel and screw-in crown are operated as on any modern Planet Ocean. The decorative finish on the rotor and bridges is rhodium-plated with Omega’s Geneva waves in arabesque pattern, visible through the sapphire caseback.
Materials of the Watch
The case is 316L stainless steel, the alloy Omega specifies across its standard steel range. Finishing is mixed brushed and polished, with polished beveled corners on the lugs.
The bezel is polished blue zirconium oxide ceramic with a red rubber inset on the first 15 minutes. The minute scale is executed in Liquidmetal, an amorphous alloy of titanium, zirconium, and copper that Omega bonds directly to ceramic. Liquidmetal sits flush with the ceramic surface and resists scratching at a level above stainless steel.
The dial is also polished blue zirconium oxide ceramic, with applied rhodium-plated indexes filled with Super-LumiNova.
The crystal is domed sapphire with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The caseback is screw-in stainless steel with an inset sapphire crystal, allowing the movement to be viewed through the back. The Olympic Games logo and “PyeongChang 2018” wording are transferred onto the caseback’s sapphire.

The watch ships on a structured blue rubber strap with red rubber lining, secured by a stainless steel foldover deployant clasp with push buttons. A stainless steel bracelet with the same clasp style is supplied in the box as a second wearing option.
The overall material character is a sport diver built around scratch-resistant ceramic surfaces, with steel for the case and clasp, and a movement engineered to resist magnetism without a soft-iron inner cage.
Box & Papers
A complete full set for this reference includes the following items:
- Special Olympic-themed presentation box
- Outer cardboard sleeve
- Warranty card / international guarantee
- Master Chronometer card
- Pictogram card
- Instruction manual / user booklet
- Extra stainless steel bracelet (factory-supplied second option)
- Strap and bracelet changing tool with instructions
- Polishing cloth
Because the extra stainless steel bracelet and the changing tool were supplied from the factory as part of the original delivery, a “full set” listing for this reference is incomplete without both. Their absence is a normal point of negotiation on the secondary market.
Box Variations
Older version
- Olympic-themed presentation box specific to the PyeongChang 2018 release
- Larger footprint to accommodate the watch on rubber strap, the second steel bracelet, and the changing tool
- Outer cardboard sleeve with PyeongChang 2018 / Olympic Games branding
Newer version
- Standard modern Omega presentation box, supplied if the original commemorative box was lost or replaced through service
- Smaller footprint, no Olympic theming, no provision for a second bracelet
- Standard outer cardboard sleeve
The PyeongChang box was specific to the Olympic edition and was not used outside this commemorative release. A piece returned in a generic later-era Omega service box still has its original commemorative caseback and the LE numbering, but is no longer a complete commemorative set, which is a meaningful difference for full-set valuation.
Original Warranty
For pieces sold from the launch in February 2018 through June 30, 2018, Omega’s Master Chronometer warranty applied: a 4-year international warranty, in line with the standard Omega Master Chronometer warranty in effect from 2015 through mid-2018. Documentation in this period was a credit-card-format plastic international warranty card, supplied alongside a separate Master Chronometer card and a pictogram card. The card was completed by the authorised dealer at point of sale, with reference number, watch serial number, date of purchase, and dealer stamp / address.
For pieces sold on or after July 1, 2018, the watch is covered by Omega’s extended 5-year international warranty. Omega announced this extension on November 2, 2018, and applied it retroactively only to purchases made on or after July 1, 2018. The card format remained the same plastic international warranty card in this transitional period.
Warranty Variations
Older version
- Plastic credit-card-format international warranty card, dealer-stamped and dated, with reference, serial number, and date of purchase filled in
- Separate Master Chronometer card identifying the specific watch and certification
- Separate pictogram card listing the watch’s functions and features
- 4-year original warranty for pieces sold before July 1, 2018
- 5-year original warranty for pieces sold on or after July 1, 2018
- All paperwork supplied in a card holder inside the box
Newer version
- For pieces sold later in the production run from boutiques, the warranty card may have been left blank with the watch’s warranty activated digitally in Omega’s internal system at point of sale, with the original sales receipt serving as the dated proof of purchase
- Post-service warranty card issued by Omega after a complete service, typically with 24 months of coverage on the work performed
- Original Master Chronometer card and pictogram card should still be present in a true full set
- Original warranty card now expired on every example, since even the latest 5-year coverage from a 2018-sold piece ran out by mid-2023
Because production was capped at 2,018 pieces and sales largely occurred in 2018, every example’s original factory warranty has now expired. The original dated, dealer-stamped warranty card remains the primary authentication document on the secondary market. A blank or photocopied card is a red flag. A piece presented with a current post-service warranty from Omega has documented service history, which is its own form of confidence even though the manufacturing warranty itself is no longer active.
Variations of the Watch
The reference 522.32.44.21.03.001 was produced in a single configuration: 43.5mm steel case, polished blue ceramic dial, blue ceramic and red rubber bezel, blue rubber strap with extra steel bracelet, Calibre 8900. There is no alternate dial, alternate strap, or alternate case material variant within this reference number.
The companion piece released for the same Games was the Seamaster Aqua Terra “PyeongChang 2018” Limited Edition, ref. 522.30.41.21.03.001, a 41mm steel watch on a separate platform with a different movement (Calibre 8500). That reference is a separate watch, not a variation of 522.32.44.21.03.001.

On-Wrist Feel
The 43.5mm diameter, 49mm lug-to-lug, and 16.09mm thickness put this firmly in the modern Planet Ocean 600M wearing profile. It is a serious sport diver in proportion, not a subtle desk watch, and the case height is dictated by the 600m water resistance and the size of the Calibre 8900.
It suits wrists from approximately 7 inches (18cm) upwards. On smaller wrists, the lug-to-lug of 49mm is the limiting dimension to consider before diameter. The official approximate weight is 135g, which is moderate for a steel diver of this size, helped by the blue rubber strap configuration. On the supplied steel bracelet the total weight is higher.
The 21mm lug width sits in line with the rest of the 43.5mm Planet Ocean 600M family and matches Omega’s 21mm rubber straps and bracelets. The blue rubber strap is the more comfortable wear of the two for warm climates and active use; the steel bracelet is the dressier of the two options for office or evening wear, though the watch’s overall presence remains sporting in either configuration.
This is a watch for a wearer who wants a 600m diver with a strong commemorative identity and is comfortable with a pronounced wrist presence. It works for swimming, diving, travel, and casual wear. It is not under-cuff dress watch territory.
