The Royal Oak Selfwinding 34 mm is the first mechanical Royal Oak built in a 34 mm case. It sits between the 33 mm Royal Oak Quartz and the 37 mm Selfwinding, and it was created to bring an automatic movement to the smaller end of the collection rather than to replace the quartz models.
Audemars Piguet introduced the 34 mm line in May 2020 with four references and no fair presentation. Reference 77350SR.OO.1261SR.01 is the two-tone version of that launch group, pairing a stainless steel case and bracelet with an 18-carat pink gold bezel, crown and bracelet links, under a silver-toned “Grande Tapisserie” dial.
The line also introduced calibre 5800, a movement new to Audemars Piguet in 2020 and built for the proportions of the 34 mm case. It carries an oscillating weight developed specifically for this size.
Within the catalogue at launch this was a regular production model in the Royal Oak Selfwinding family, positioned as an entry point into a mechanical Royal Oak with a precious metal element.
The dial is silver-toned and carries the “Grande Tapisserie” pattern, the larger of the two Royal Oak guilloché scales. The pattern is a field of small raised squares that runs edge to edge behind the markers and the printed text.
Hour markers are applied 18-carat pink gold, filled with a luminescent coating. The Royal Oak hands are pink gold in the same baton style, with the hour and minute hands carrying luminescent fill and the centre seconds hand running plain.
The date sits in a window at 3 o’clock. The applied “Audemars Piguet” signature is placed at 12 o’clock, with “Swiss Made” printed at the base of the dial.
A minute track with printed indices runs around the outer edge of the dial, inside the flat inner bezel ring.
The case is the Royal Oak shape: a round case middle with a broad octagonal bezel over it, the two joined by wide flat surfaces that run out into the bracelet without conventional lugs. Surfaces alternate between satin brushing and polished chamfers.
The case measures 34 mm across and 8.8 mm thick. The case middle is stainless steel and the bezel is 18-carat pink gold, secured by eight hexagonal screws set through the bezel into the caseback.
The crystal is glareproofed sapphire, flat over the dial with no date magnifier. The caseback is also glareproofed sapphire, so calibre 5800 is visible from the back.
The crown is 18-carat pink gold and screws down against the case. Water resistance is rated at 50 m.
The bezel is fixed and has no scale or timing function. Its role is structural and visual: it holds the crystal and the screws that run through to the back, and it carries the pink gold in the two-tone scheme.
The bracelet is the integrated Royal Oak type, made of tapering links that step down in width from the case to the clasp. The links are stainless steel with 18-carat pink gold link elements running down the centre of the bracelet, matching the bezel and crown.
Finishing follows the case, with satin-brushed top surfaces and polished chamfers along the link edges. The bracelet attaches directly to the case rather than to lugs, so it cannot be swapped for a strap without factory parts.
The clasp is the AP folding clasp, a double folding deployant that closes flush under the wrist. Sizing is by removing links from the bracelet.
This reference is a bracelet-only configuration. The 1261 bracelet code in the reference number identifies the two-tone steel and pink gold bracelet fitted to it.
The movement is Audemars Piguet calibre 5800, a self-winding mechanical calibre supplied in base form by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier and finished for Audemars Piguet with an oscillating weight developed for the 34 mm Royal Oak.
It measures 23.3 mm in diameter and 3.9 mm thick, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), contains 28 jewels, and holds a power reserve of 50 hours. The base calibre uses a free-sprung balance with gold regulating weights.
Functions are hours, minutes, centre seconds and date. There is no chronograph, no second time zone and no power reserve display.
Winding and setting are done through the screw-locked pink gold crown, which is unscrewed for use and screwed back down against the case afterwards to hold the 50 m rating.
The case middle, caseback and bracelet are stainless steel, satin-brushed on the flats with polished chamfers on the edges.
The bezel, crown and the central bracelet links are 18-carat pink gold. This is solid gold, not plating or capping, and it is the only precious metal on the watch.
The crystal over the dial and the crystal in the caseback are both sapphire with anti-reflective treatment. The applied hour markers and the Royal Oak hands are 18-carat pink gold, carrying a luminescent coating.
The clasp is stainless steel with a pink gold element, following the bracelet.
The material character is a steel sports watch with solid gold used as an accent rather than as structure.
A complete set for this era consists of the Generation 1 presentation set supplied by the boutique or authorised retailer, together with the warranty card, the document wallet and the literature.

Generation 1 ran across 2020 to approximately 2023, so a single factory box family applies to every example of this reference. A full set should present the dark hinged box with the black interior and gold branding, along with its outer carton.
A watch offered as a complete set with a later box or with service packaging in place of the Generation 1 box is an incomplete set for listing purposes, and that difference is worth confirming before the set is described.
Audemars Piguet supplied this reference with the International Sales Warranty, covering manufacturing defects for two years from the date of initial purchase. The warranty applies internationally through the authorised network and follows the watch rather than the original buyer.
Coverage is recorded on an AP plastic international warranty card carrying the watch reference and the serial or warranty information, completed at the point of sale. The card is issued once, at purchase, and it is the primary purchase documentation for the watch.
The card is supplied inside the document wallet alongside the manuals, and that wallet is part of a complete set.
Coverage could be extended beyond the two years through Audemars Piguet’s registration programme, under the terms applicable at the time of purchase.

The original two-year period has expired on every example of this reference, and any registered extension has also now run out. Coverage on a watch sold today comes from a service warranty or from the seller rather than from the original card.
Audemars Piguet warrants its own service work for two years from the date shown on the service documentation, which is the manufacturer coverage a current example is most likely to carry.
For a full set, the completed original card is the piece that matters. A blank, undated or photocopied card carries none of that weight, and a card that does not match the watch on reference and serial should be treated as a problem rather than a detail.
The reference belongs to the pre-anniversary generation of the Royal Oak. From 2022 the 34 mm two-tone position passed to the 77450SR references, which carry the revised case and bracelet treatment and the 1361 bracelet code in place of 1261.
At 34 mm across and 8.8 mm thick, this is one of the smallest mechanical watches in the Royal Oak collection. The octagonal bezel spreads the visual width beyond the case diameter, so it reads slightly larger on the wrist than the number suggests.
The integrated bracelet leaves the case at a steep angle rather than extending flat, which keeps the total wrist coverage short and suits narrow wrists. There is no lug overhang to manage.
At 8.8 mm the case sits low enough to pass under a shirt cuff without catching. The weight is moderate for a full metal bracelet watch of this size, with the gold links adding density in the centre of the bracelet.
The 50 m rating covers washing and rain rather than swimming or diving. The watch suits daily wear, office use and dress occasions, on a wrist in the smaller range.
