The Royal Oak Chronograph 41 is the self-winding chronograph version of the Royal Oak, built around Gerald Genta’s 1972 octagonal case and integrated design. Reference 26320OR.OO.D088CR.01 is the 18K pink gold version with a silver Grande Tapisserie dial, supplied from the factory on a brown alligator strap.
The 26320 series was introduced in 2012 as the successor to the 39mm Royal Oak Chronograph reference 26300. The case grew from 39mm to 41mm, and the dial and bezel proportions were revised to suit the larger diameter. The movement carried over as calibre 2385.
Within the Royal Oak line at launch, this reference sat as the precious-metal, strap-mounted configuration of the 41mm chronograph, positioned above the stainless steel versions and alongside the pink gold bracelet variant. It was regular production, not a limited edition.
The 26320 generation ran until 2017, when it was replaced by reference 26331, which kept calibre 2385 but revised the dial layout, counter sizes, markers, and date placement.
The dial is silver with the Grande Tapisserie pattern, the larger hobnail guilloché grid used across the 41mm Royal Oak of this era. Against the silver ground the pattern reads as fine texture rather than high contrast.
Hour markers are applied 18K pink gold with luminescent filling, matched by 18K pink gold Royal Oak hands, also luminescent. The printed dial text reads “Audemars Piguet” and “Automatic” below twelve o’clock, with “Swiss Made” at the base of the dial.
The chronograph layout uses three sub-dials finished in the same silver tone as the main dial, each with fine concentric snailing and a pink gold surround: a 12-hour counter at nine o’clock, a 30-minute counter at three o’clock, and a running small-seconds register at six o’clock. Central chronograph seconds run from the centre.
The date aperture sits between four and five o’clock. A minute and seconds track runs around the outer edge of the dial.
The case is 18K pink gold in the Royal Oak’s octagonal profile, with the brushed top surfaces and polished bevels that define the design. Published diameter is 41mm, with a case height of 10.8mm recorded on dealer specification sheets.
The crystal is glareproofed sapphire. The crown is a screw-locked pink gold crown, flanked by two round chronograph pushers. The caseback is solid 18K pink gold and screw-locked, so the movement is not visible from the rear. Water resistance is 50 metres.
The bezel is 18K pink gold, octagonal and fixed, secured by the eight hexagonal screws that are a signature of the Royal Oak. The bezel carries no scale and no timing function; it is a structural and decorative element, not a working complication.
The factory configuration for this reference is a brown alligator leather strap, hand-stitched with a large square scale, fitted with an 18K pink gold AP folding clasp. This is the strap designated by the reference suffix D088CR, where CR denotes the crocodile leather strap.
The strap mounts to the integrated pink gold lugs of the case rather than to conventional spring-bar lugs, so the strap and case read as a single line. The folding clasp is a deployant-style closure in matching pink gold.
The example documented here is presented on a navy rubber strap in place of the original alligator. That rubber strap is a fitment rather than the factory-supplied strap for this reference. The pink gold bracelet configuration of the 41mm pink gold chronograph is a separate reference (26320OR.OO.1220OR), not a variant of this strap reference.
The movement is the Audemars Piguet calibre 2385, a self-winding chronograph based on the Frédéric Piguet 1185 ébauche. It is an integrated chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch, rather than a module added to a base movement.
Specifications are 26.2mm in diameter and 5.5mm thick, 304 parts, 37 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz), and a power reserve of 40 hours. Winding is by an 18K pink gold rotor. Functions are hours, minutes, small seconds, date, and chronograph.
The chronograph is operated by the two round pushers. The upper pusher starts and stops timing; the lower pusher resets the chronograph hands to zero. Elapsed time is read from the central seconds hand, the 30-minute counter at three o’clock, and the 12-hour counter at nine o’clock.
The crown is screw-locked and must be unscrewed before the time or date can be set. The date is displayed in the aperture between four and five o’clock.
The case, bezel, caseback, crown, chronograph pushers, and folding clasp are 18K pink gold, Audemars Piguet’s warm-toned rose gold alloy. The rotor inside the movement is also 18K pink gold.
The crystal is sapphire with anti-reflective treatment. The dial furniture, meaning the applied hour markers, the hands, and the sub-dial surrounds, is 18K pink gold. The factory strap is alligator leather.

A different box on a watch of this period usually indicates a later service return or a replacement rather than the original packaging, which is relevant to a full-set assessment.

Coverage was documented on the Gen 1 green Audemars Piguet paper guarantee certificate booklet, manually completed or dealer-stamped, with fields for the reference, case, and movement. A 2015 example falls in the Gen 1 window, so the correct paperwork is the green paper guarantee booklet with the two-year International Sales Warranty. That original warranty has expired. On the current market the value of the paperwork is in authentication and completeness rather than active coverage: a completed, dealer-stamped guarantee certificate matching the watch is the key document, and a blank or unstamped certificate is a concern for a full-set listing. Reference 26320OR.OO.D088CR.01 belongs to the 26320 generation of the Royal Oak Chronograph 41, which was replaced by the 26331 generation in 2017.
At 41mm across and 10.8mm thick, the watch wears true to its stated diameter. The thicker chronograph case gives it more presence on the wrist than a time-only 41mm Royal Oak of the same width.
In solid pink gold, the head has real weight. On the alligator strap, or on the rubber strap this example wears, the overall mass is lower than the full pink gold bracelet version, and the watch sits flatter and more easily under a cuff.
