Unique within the Speedmaster lineup, this reference utilizes automatic movement with date complication packaged in a 40mm case. Furthermore with its discontinuation, this Date variant sets itself apart from the many other “Speedys” throughout the years. From being the first watch that landed on the moon to being worn by James Bond throughout his adventures, there are very few other watches that have such an enriched history.
Presents itself in mint condition with little to no signs of wear. The beautiful sunburst dial offers better contrast to read the black subdials, complete with date window located at the 4:30 position. Complimenting the chronograph, you can find double-digit second reads at the top of each hour marker/position. With true Speedmaster DNA, the black ceramic bezel contains the tachymetre scale to provide accurate readings.
Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, date, and chronograph. The crown is push-based, providing manual winding and quickset for the minute hand. The pusher tool can be used to push in the top left pusher which quick sets the day of the month. The top right pusher starts/stops the chronograph function while the bottom right pusher reset the chronograph function. Three subdials located at the bottom half of the dial, display the small seconds, 30 minute and 12-hour chronograph readings.
Comes as a full set, double-boxed with watch pillow, warranty wallet, warranty card, chronometer certificate, and operating manual.
With the 40mm case paired with the refined sunburst dial, it can easily slip under a shirt cuff projecting quiet authority in boardroom or business environments. If you’re wanting a “Speedy” with unique functions and aesthetics that you’ll rarely come across, this Date reference is the one you want to consider.
