There is no better example of a black sheep in the family than this Speedmaster. This discontinued day-date variation is a forgotten gem in the long life of Speedmasters. It’s not very often you find a chronograph that also tells you the month and date.
It presents itself in mint condition, with little to no signs of wear. The black vinyl-like dial is sophisticated, and the layout is extremely practical. The seamless stainless steel bracelet is soft enough for everyday versatility and elegant enough for elevated occasions. The beautifully engraved hippocampi on the case back add a lovely artistic element to the watch.
Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, date, day, month, and chronograph. The top right pusher starts/stops the chronograph function, while the bottom right pusher resets the chronograph function. To set the time of the watch, pull out the crown to the outermost position and rotate clockwise. To set the month and date, pull out the crown to the first position and rotate counterclockwise. To quick-set the day, press the button on the left side of the case using a thin, firm object.
It comes as a full set, double-boxed with warranty cards, a card holder, and an operations manual.
Whether it’s a night out for drinks, a family event, or a fancy dinner, this Speedmaster is perfect for any occasion. A refined, underrated timepiece that makes an ideal companion for everyday wear.
