Omega Speedmaster 38 Orbis Edition Blue Dial Stainless Steel 38mm MINT CONDITION COMPLETE SET 324.30.38.50.03.002

$6,599.00

Every young patient who passes through the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital goes home holding a teddy bear, and Omega has been supplying those bears since 2011. Sculpted into the caseback and perched on the counterweight of the central chronograph hand, that same little bear turns a Speedmaster into something with a pulse. Collectors who already own a Moonwatch fall for this one because it carries a story nobody else at the table can tell.

Presents itself in mint condition with little to no signs of wear. Set against a sunbrushed blue dial that swings from bright cobalt to deep navy as your wrist moves, three pale ice blue registers sit across the face like a row of eyes. Framed by a tachymeter scale printed on a deep blue aluminium ring, the bezel gives the front a racing edge without ever shouting. Finished in alternating brushed and polished stainless steel, the bracelet flashes matte and gloss in a single turn of the wrist.

Functions include hours, minutes, small seconds, date, and chronograph with a 30 minute counter and a 12 hour counter. Winding happens at the crown, sitting at three o’clock and pushed all the way in, and approximately 40 turns brings it to a full wind. Pull the crown fully out to set the hands. The date is adjusted using the small recessed corrector on the opposite side of the case. Using the supplied plastic tool, each press advances the date by one day. Start and stop timing with the upper right pusher, then clear everything back to zero with the lower right pusher. Power reserve runs to 52 hours, water resistance is rated to 100 metres, and the Co-Axial Calibre 3330 with its silicon balance spring keeps chronometer certified time.

Comes as a complete set, double boxed with international warranty card, pictogram card, leather card folio, and operating instructions booklet.

Charity editions rarely wear this well, and fewer still put the cause somewhere you notice it every time you glance down. At 38 millimetres it slides under a cuff the way Speedmasters did in the sixties, which is why collectors who swore they had outgrown the size keep circling back to it. Something that quietly did a little good in the world does not come around often.
